Drake and Nicki Minaj are friends once again after a supposed falling out, which was hinted at on the rapper’s new album, Nothing Was The Same.
The Canadian star - whose album was released earlier this week
(September 24) - alluded to differences between the two in the track, Tuscan Leather.
In the song, Drizzy raps: "Not even talkin' to Nicki, communication
is breakin'. I dropped the ball on some personal s**t, I need to
embrace it."
Shedding some light on the situation, the Started From The Bottom hitmaker told MTV News US:
“That line in Tuscan Leather isn’t exactly where I am in life right now
but like a year ago, eight months, seven months ago, it was how I
felt.”
The two have previously collaborated, with Nicki appearing on the 26-year-old’s last album, Thank Me Later, and talking about the rift, he added: "I'd done something wrong and I wasn't speaking to her."
According to Drake, the two had patched up their differences in
time for the release of the album, but he had not felt the need to
change the song: "I wrote that a while ago and I kinda felt guilty
changing it."
"I think the dialogue actually between us was already opened up. I had already solved that issue."
Although the two have now settled their differences, Drizzy did
admit they haven’t spoken since the LPs release: "I haven't talked to
her since it's been out. I'm not sure. I haven't spoke to her.
"It was a sentiment that I had when I started this album and felt
like that's how it should be. The album should start one place and end
in another."
