Please Save Us From Dangote, Cement Producers Beg Buhari

Change must affected all areas of Nigeria, no more impunity. Cement manufacturers under the aegis of Cement Producers Association of Nigeria, CPAN, have called on President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari to assist them in fighting corruption in the sector allegedly perpetrated by a cabal “that has been dictating cement policies for personal interests.”

In a tacit reference to popular businessman and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, they specifically pleaded with Buhari to assist in reducing the price of cement from N2,200 to N1,000 per bag.

Man rides bike from Ivory Coast to Nigeria to create awareness for Chibok girls

A young Nigerian man named Oyekoya Yemi on March 30th began a bike ride from Abidjan in Ivory Coast to Lagos Nigeria to create awareness for the missing Chibok girls as well as to mark the one year anniversary of the girls in Boko Haram captivity. He will be on the road for 15 days, from March 30th to April 15th. He shared photos of his journey so far on twitter. See them after the cut...

Entrances to many filling stations in Lagos and other parts of the country remained shut to motorists on Sunday following a sharp drop in the supply of petrol to the market.

See How our naira was devalued against dollar and Venezula's currency stable with only 9% fall

Should this rise of the exchange rate in Nigeria be a thing of worry? As at today, a pound to naira is now N311 while a dollar to naira is now N204. After a lot of research conducted, it looks like the naira has devalued by more than 25% in the last few years while as at yesterday the naira to a pound was 304. It devalued by 2.5%.

TransAsia plane crashes in Taiwan river - 15 killed, 30 missing

Not again! A TransAsia airways plane carrying 53 passengers and five crew crashed into a shallow river this morning in Taiwan, killing at least 12 people. 16 people have been rescued alive and about 30 are missing.

The crash was caught on the dashcam of a car driving through the bride. It shows the plane clipping a bridge shortly after take-off this morning from Taipei's Sungshan Airport and crashing into the Keelung river.

The plane's wings also hit a taxi on the freeway, seriously injuring the driver. Rescue workers are currently at the scene and have been able to pull people alive from the wreckage. But they believe most of the people in front of the plane are like to have lost their lives as they continue rescue efforts. See the dramatic photos and video of the crash after the cut...

Tanzania has the highest number of killings and attacks of albinos in Africa and trade in body parts of the special people is driven by belief that they bring luck and wealth.

Tanzania's albinos are being 'hunted down like animals' as greed for money and influence drives families to turn on their own loved ones in a trade allegedly fuelled by some of the country's most powerful people. It is believed albino body parts will bring a person wealth, or luck - and for that, people are willing to pay as much as $3,000 or $4,000 for a limb, or as much as $75,000 - about £50,000 - for the 'full set', a whole body.

Another fire outbreak reported in Marina this morning. The fire started around 4am in one of the tall buildings at Eko/Berlin Market, around CBN building. Shops and other buildings have been engulfed by fire though the fire service is trying their best to put it out. Millions of Naira lost in property. This season of fire outbreaks, is it the weather? Missing AirAsia flight QZ8501: Live updates as major search operation for passenger plane resumes

A major search operation has been launched after an AirAsia passenger plane went missing as it flew from Indonesia to Singapore. Here's what we know so far:

    AirAsia flight QZ8501 lost contact with air traffic control at 7.24am on Saturday morning. There were 162 people on board - 155 passengers, and 7 crew members. The plane was last seen between the Indonesian island of Belitung, and Pontianak in Borneo. There was bad weather over Belitung at the time.

On December 16th at about 9:10am, military personnel on Stop and Search along Potiskum Road by Ashaka/Bajoga Junction intercepted one Honda Odyssey vehicle with registration number AT 670 DKA (Yobe) driven by a man later identified as Nuru Fika.

Taliban raid Pakistan primary school, kill 80 children


Islamic terror group, the Taliban, around 10 this morning launched a deadly attack on a military-run primary school in Northwestern city of Peshawar in Pakistan, killing 100 people, 80 of them children, according to the BBC. They are also reportedly holding over 100 children hostage. Over 500 students have so far been evacuated.
According to reports, the militants stormed the school's auditorium this morning where the students were learning first aid training from the military and started shooting.

A Londoner who was officially the fattest man in the world has died.
Keith Martin, 44, died from pneumonia following a lengthy battle with his weight.
It happened just eight months after Mr Martin - who weighed 70 stone at his heaviest - had undergone a successful gastric sleeve which removed three-quarters of his stomach.
Now the surgeon who tried to save him with life-changing weight-loss surgery is calling for the government to swiftly impose a fast-food tax as he backed NHS plans to offer more gastric surgeries to high-risk patients.

PDP Governors lobbing obasanjo on Jonathan poor economy plan



Five Peoples Democratic Party governors led by the Chairman, PDP Governors Forum, and governor, Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting, which lasted for three hours, with the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Other governors on the trip are the governors of Bauchi, Jigawa, Cross River, and Niger states, Isa Yuguda, Sule Lamido, Liyel Imoke and Babangida Aliyu respectively.
The governors arrived Obasanjo’s residence around 12.30pm and emerged from the inner chamber at exactly 3.30pm.

A secretive town filled with naturists in Hertfordshire is opening up in a new TV documentary in a bid to attract more residents.
Spielplatz is a small village in Hertfordshire. The residents rarely allow the media to document their way of life, but now they're starring in a new TV show - because they want to recruit more naturists to live in their naked village
The town is desperately trying to attract more young people, as the average age is well over 60 and the population numbers may soon start dwindling.

GOP staffer apologizes after calling out Malia and Sasha Obama

A GOP staffer has apologized after calls were made for her to be sacked following a post she made on Facebook on Thursday November 27th calling president Obama's 16 year old Malia and 13 year old Sasha 'classless teenagers with no good role models' because of the outfits they wore to accompany their dad to the the turkey pardoning ceremony at the White House. (her post left)
