Two suspects have been arrested in Kogi State, for using police uniform to rob on the highway.
Items recovered from them two AK 47 assault riffles with police inscriptions: NPF 21193, and NPF O6988.

Evbaklavbakun, a deputy commissioner of police, told THISDAY that the
suspects Ibrahim Aliyu and Yakubu Alfa, were the kingpins in the
syndicate of robbers terrorising the public along the Okene- Auchi road.
He stated that the duo were in the habit of dressing in fake police
uniforms and mounting robbery checkpoints on the highway. He added that
the police uniforms more often than not do lure unsuspecting members of
the public to stop for them.
He state that also recovered from the suspects were huge quantity of
live ammunitions, police uniforms including mopol berets, cutlasses,
criminal charms and some quantities of weed suspected to be Indian
hemps.
The police boss said luck ran out on the suspects when they attacked
some people who were returning from mosque in the early hours of 14
september 2013 and opened fire on the victims.

He said the patrol team encountered the suspects demanding for proper
identification and when they could not properly identify themselves,
they were disarmed and arrested.
He added that from the modus operandi of the gang, the command believes
that they must have had military training and that the command was
still on the trail of two other members of the gang.
Also arrested, according to the police boss, is one Lucky Abdullahi,
for attempting to kill an immigration officer, Bummi Ayeleke, by
attacking her, twisting her neck and causing other bodily harm on her;
and carting away her property
