The official Twitter account for the Palace of Versailles – mooted venue for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s upcoming wedding – has denied that the couple have set a date. We are on hold with easyJet cancelling the fifty tickets to Versailles we panic booked as we speak. What do you mean a £35 cancellation charge? Per person? The flights didn’t even cost £35, easyJet.
Both Kim and Kanye are in France at the moment, flitting in and out of
various Paris Fashion Week venues and visited Versailles to have a nose around the breathtaking venue and the hotels nearby.
Which for many people might mean the couple are planning to get married in Versailles. Au contraire, dear reader. Mange tout. Simon Le Non. As the official Palace Twitter account confirmed, the couple had visited the venue – but had not spoken to the snippy dude on the front desk who has a big calendar with a pencil tied to it with string about dates.
“On 19th January @KimKardashian and @kanyewest visited the Palace of Versailles but they are not planning their wedding at the Palace.”
Which makes sense, really – despite the stunning surroundings, heat understands Kimye had already crossed the Palace off their potential venue list after learning they couldn’t rent out the entire building to themselves, posing a threat to the security and exclusivity of the event.
“At the moment a big French chateau is in the running [as a venue],” a source told heat this week. “They went off Versailles when they realised they couldn’t rent out the whole palace.”
As we exclusively report in this week’s mag, Kim and Kanye are mega-stressing about their wedding – pushing back the potential date twice already, from February to April to perhaps May, and bickering over the guestlist for the event.
