Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State on Sunday said that Senator Iyiola Omisore had shown that he had nothing good to offer the people of the state.
The governor made this known in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon.
Omisore, who is the front-runner for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship ticket for the forthcoming polls in the state, while formally declaring his ambition on Saturday in Oshogbo, accused Aregbesola of perpetrating many illegalities.

But the governor said that after a careful review of what Omisore said at the occasion, it was evident that he (Omisore) had nothing to offer the people and thereby did not deserve to be voted in as governor of the Southwest state.

The governor said Omisore needed to tell the people what he wanted to do if given the opportunity but said that he missed the opportunity because he had no good plans for the state.

The statement read, “The summary of Omisore’s speech was a total reversal and discontinuation of the policies and programmes of the government, which had been adjudged as effective for comprehensive development of our state.

“The few people who spared time to listen to what Omisore had to say ended with utter disappointment after the declaration as there was nothing to tell the people other than puerile, totally unsubstantiated allegations, which had been the sing-songs on the lips of the PDP aspirants for months.

“His allegations over award of road contracts, the coming to Osun of the biggest garment factory in Africa, Omoluabi Garment Factory, his condemnation of the best school reforms so far and other allegations had no substance.

“We must remind the people of Osun that Aregbesola promised that in less than 100 days of assumption of office, he would take at least 20,000 youths out of the endless search for jobs. He told the people he would restore peace; he would bring about functional education from its rotten state; he would restore healthy living; he would banish hunger and poverty.

“Today, beneficiaries of the various people-centered programmes of the Aregbesola administration can attest to the delivery of these promises and more”, the statement said.
