The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has expressed concern over the high rate of consumption and sale of tramadol capsule and sex enhancement drugs among youths in Katsina State.
Speaking to newsmen in Katsina, coordinator of the agency in the state, Suleiman Muyiddeen, blamed the
availability of the drugs on the porous nature of Nigerian borders which enable people smuggle them into the state in large quantities.
Muyiddeen lamented that tramadol and sex enhancement drugs have taken over markets and patent medicine stores and are now being abused by youths.
He warned that the agency would henceforth seal any patent medicine store found selling tramadol or sex enhancement drugs, and their owners would be charged to court.
Muyiddeen, who added that the agency has already confiscated large quantities of tramadol and sex enhancement drugs from markets and patent medicine stores, also called on the public to stop patronizing drug hawkers.
