Norwich City Signs Joseph Yobo

Norwich City chief executive David McNally believes his club pulled off a profitable coup by signing a high-profile player like Joseph Yobo during the January transfer window.
The Canaries secured the loan signings of both Joseph Yobo and Jonas Guttierrez in January, and McNally believes that the players, who he described as being of ‘first-class’ quality, are good value for
money.

“Those two were crucial reinforcements,” kickoff.com quoted McNally as saying.

“Joseph has played 95 times for Nigeria and Jonas 22 times for Argentina and bringing them in on a short-term basis, knowing the character of these men is first-class, was better for us than investing in a four-year contract on someone of less quality. That was the judgement we made.

“Having been in the game many years now, January is about short-term measures to ensure the squad is complemented rather than a wholesale re-shaping of the staff.”

Yobo has walked straight into the starting line-up of Norwich City were he partners Sebastian Bassong. The 33-year-old has also been recalled to the Nigerian national team for the friendly game against Mexico on March 5.
