Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji
Players of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba and their
management have been rewarded with N50 million by Abia State Governor,
Chief Theodore Orji for their performance in the just concluded football
season. Enyimba won the 2013 edition of the Federation Cup and
finished second in the
just concluded Glo Premier League.
Governor Orji announced the cash reward Sunday night at a reception
held in honour of the People’s Elephants at the banquet hall of
Government House.
He also pledged full support for the Enyimba FC to bring more laurels
to the state and to the nation, noting that the team has brought
goodwill to Abia State as one of the things that projects the state is
Enyimba FC.
The governor, who was so pleased with the Enyimba boys and their handlers, said that the club by its performance has justified the financial and moral support it has always enjoyed from the government and the entire people of Abia, adding that he would not have any cause to regret any investment on Enyimba.

He explained that the players, coaching crew, officials and supporters
club are to benefit various amounts of money from the largesse and
thanked the team for its understanding.
Chairman of Enyimba International FC, Mr. Felix Anyansi Agwu, in his
address said that the club owed its impressive performances to huge
supports from the governor as well as the “resilience and hard work on
the part of players”.
"This year we have finished as the most accomplished team of the season
after winning another federation cup and finishing second in the
league," he enthused.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Orji for approving the development of a club house for the Aba based football club, saying that the house when completed would count as one of Orji's lasting legacies for the state.

Agwu, who easily stands out as Nigeria’s most successful club
administrator, promised that Enyimba international FC would live up to
the expectation of their teeming fans in the coming campaigns.
To further boost the morale of players and propel them to conquer the
African continent, the Enyimba boss appealed to the governor to release
the balance of sign on fees and other allowances of the player.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the trophy won by
Enyimba to the governor as well as the award of excellence on the
governor by the Enyimba chairman.
He went down memory lane to recall past achievements of Enyimba FC,
citing the Super Cup in 2009, Premier League title 2010, the Champion of
Champions trophy and the Super Four Cup, all in 2010 as well as the FA
Cup title and premier league second best in 2013.
