Ex-Chocolate City singer, Brymo has been banned from being a musician (literally) unless he returns to Chocolate City.
According to popular blogger, Linda Ikeji, Chocolate City have put out a legal injunction against Brymo who just released his 3rd album –Merchant, Dealers and Slaves – which prevents him “from recording, releasing, distributing any composition, song, musical works or carrying out any activity as a recording or performing artist through or for the benefit of
any person or organisation other than Chocolate City pending the determination of the suit against him.
Brymo left Chocolate City earlier this year, after having personal concerns about the direction of his career. After he quit the label, he met up with his producer, Mikky Me, and together they created a new album (Merchants, Dealer & Slaves).
Brymo also signed a distribution deal with spinlet, giving them distribution rights to his new album. But it was a bit of a surprise to many when his work appeared on iTunes last week.
Chocolate City have said on more than one occasion that Brymo’s contract remains valid until 2016, and so this move shouldn’t come as a complete surprise to many that have been paying attention to this issue.
Brymo’s new album is scheduled to hit nationwide stores tomorrow. But that will not be possible, with recent developments completely antagonizing it.
Hopefully, this will be sorted soon enough.
