Confirming the latest development, Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso's Director of Press and Public Relations, Baba Dantiye, said Emir Sanusi would move into the place within the next few days.
Dantiye also noted that since policemen had also been withdrawn from the Government House, Kano youths had taken over the responsibility of guarding the place.
“Patriotic young men are guarding the Government House now as a result of the withdrawal of policemen by the federal authorities.”Dantiye wrote in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday. He also told Punch that, “I just got information that the police have left the palace. Preparations will now start to ensure the emir relocates to the palace.”
Update from Kano indicates that the new Emir will lead Muslims in Kano during the Friday Jumat prayers.
Also, Emir Sanusi on Thursday received the leader of Tijjaniyya sect in Africa, Khalifa Sheikh Isiyaka Rabi’u who paid him the traditional homage.
It is believed that the intervention of powerful Northern leaders have left the Presidency with no choice but to ask the policemen who have laid siege on the palace of Emir Sanusi to vacate immediately. Credible source in the city told Naijahforreal that strong warnings were issued against any interference with Sanusi by the agents and sympathizers of the Presidency for any reason whatsoever.
Consequently, calm has returned to Kano and the Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is now in charge.
