Buhari declares 270 cattle, mud houses, N30m, others • Osinbajo worth $900,000, N94m and more

 

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday made public details of their assets, which had been declared to the Code of Conduct Bureau.

According a statement by the President’s Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President has about N30m in his only bank account with the Union Bank Plc, while the Vice President has a balance of N94m, $900,000 and 19,000 pounds in his bank accounts.

Shehu’s statement said the President had shares in Berger Paints, Skye Bank and Union Bank and a total of seven houses, comprising two mud and a standard house in Daura, his hometown; two homes in Kaduna, one in Kano and one in Abuja.

A historian has revealed what he claims is the first portrait of William Shakespeare created in his lifetime 400 years ago.

The image, said to show the Bard "with a film star's good looks", was identified by Mark Griffiths in the first edition of a 16th Century book on plants, called The Herball.
The botanist and historian said he cracked a many-layered Tudor code which revealed the face in an engraving on the title page of the book.
A Latin cipher "of the kind loved by the Elizabethan aristocracy" which is part of the engraving was decoded to read William Shakespeare.

WHO warns doctors against ‘unnecessary’ caesarean sections in order to meet Targeted profit.

The World Health Organisation has called on medical doctors to only perform caesarean sections when medically necessary.
According to the WHO, caesarean section is one of the most common surgeries in the world, with the rates rising, particularly in high-and middle-income countries.
The global health body, in a statement on Friday in Geneva, said although it could save lives, caesarean section was often performed without medical need, putting women and their babies at risk of short- and long-term health problems.
It urged the need for medical practitioners to focus on the needs of the patient, on a case-by-case basis, and discourage the practice of aiming for “target rates.”
