Emmanuel Amuneke disagree's with Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi assertion that some of the Under-17 World Cup-winners are ready for the senior team.
Keshi recently stated that he is keen to run the rule over the victorious players with a view to introducing them into the Super Eagles fold.
But Amuneke, who was part of the Golden Eaglets' coaching team in the United Arab Emirates, believes it is far too soon to expose the youngsters to the rigours of top level international football.
"It's too early (for them to play for the Super Eagles). They are not ready yet. You need to carefully groom these boys and asking them to play for the Super Eagles at this stage will be a mistake," he explained.
The former African Footballer of the Year does, however, feel that a number of the players will go on to have successful careers in football, but says calm heads are required in managing their respective futures.
"I was privileged to have coached those youngsters. I see very bright future for some of them," he added.
"Chidiebere Nwakali, Musa Mohammed, Success Issac, Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho and a few others all have a good future in the game if they keep their feet firmly on the ground.
"They cannot play for the Super Eagles yet. It will destroy them because they won't be able to cope with the pressure and their confidence will be shattered forever."
