P Diddy Named Wealthiest Hip Hop Artist Of 2013

The mogul beats Jay-Z and Dr. Dre to the top spot on the Forbes list…

16:48, Wednesday, 25 September 2013
P Diddy has been named the wealthiest artist in hip hop for 2013.

The I'll Be Missing You star topped the annual Forbes list with an estimated net worth of US$580 million, beating out fellow hip hop moguls Jay-Z and Dr. Dre for the honour.

According to Forbes, the bulk of the Bad Boy Records founder's fortune comes from his non-musical endeavours, namely his deal with Ciroc vodka.

Jay-Z came in at number two on the list, with an estimated net worth of US$475 million attributed to his involvement with brands such as Rocawear and Live Nation as well as his stake in Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

Dr. Dre ranks third with US$350 million, thanks in large part to his ownership stake in the hugely successful Beats by Dr. Dre headphone range.

Bryan 'Birdman' Williams, owner of the Cash Money/Young Money empire sits at number four with US$150 million while the top five is rounded out by 50 Cent, with an estimated US$125 million.

In order to compile their list of top earners, Forbes state that they look at 'past earnings, value current holdings, leaf through financial documents and talk to analysts, attorneys, managers, other industry players and even some of the moguls themselves to find the nitty-gritty details.'

Last week we told you that Jay-Z and Beyonce had nabbed the top spot in Forbes' Highest-Earning Celebrity Couples list.

Police say suspected Islamic militants armed with automatic rifles and explosives killed a pastor and his son and torched a church in northeast Nigeria before dawn.

Corporal Musa Ibrahim said the attackers also killed the village head at Dorawa, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the Yobe state school where extremists in July killed 29 students, some burned alive.
Ibrahim said gunmen used explosives to set ablaze the church and five homes.
Yobe is one of three northeastern states under a military emergency to try to halt an Islamic uprising by militants who have killed more than 1,700 people since 2010 in their quest to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state and ban Western education though the country of 160 million people has as many Christians as Muslims.
