Who feels bad for Tayo? Did he even deserve to win? Didn't watch the show so don't really know much about the contestants. But our Nigerian rep, Tayo Faniran lost to Tanzania's Idris Sultan. Idris won the $300,000 prize money - which is over N50million. Big congrats to him.

Nigerian military releases detained Russian Cargo plane

The Nigerian military has released the detained Russian cargo plane which they seized yesterday morning after France admitted ownership of the aircraft.

It said that the flight was covered by a diplomatic clearance given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, noting that the Autonov 124 Russian commercial plane was forced to land at the Kano airport because of dense air traffic at Ndjamena airport, Chad.

Seized arms belong to French mission in Chad —Russia

 

Russia has said that the arms and ammunition being conveyed by a plane that was seized at the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, on Saturday belonged to the French peace-keeping mission in Chad.

The Russian Embassy in Abuja, which said this on its Twitter handle on Sunday, explained that the seized aircraft had been chartered to transport the military equipment and that the crew members were not Russians.

The embassy also denied that the plane was Russian.

The Antonov Cargo Aircraft, carrying some attack helicopters and containers and arms and ammunition, was impounded by security personnel at the Kano airport on Saturday.

PDP moves to use Dasuki as Tambuwal Replacement

 

A member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Abdussamad Dasuki, on Sunday picked the ticket of the All Progressives Congress for the Kebbe-Tambuwal Federal Constituency.

If Dasuki wins the February 2015 election, he will succeed the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, who has been on the seat for the past eight years.
