ASUU: VC advocates monitoring panel on agreement

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has called on the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to create a “monitoring committee on agreement.”
Ambali, who made the call on Monday in Ilorin, told newsmen that this would help to forestall future disruption of academic activities.

INEC returning Officer of the Anambra governorship election Prof James Epoke, has said that Saturday’s election was inconclusive and declared that a supplementary election would be conducted at a date to be fixed by the Commission.

ASUU strike: NSCDC begins 7-day fasting, prayers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday began seven days fasting and prayer for an end to the lingering Academic Staff of Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) strike.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the corps, Mr Emmanuel Okeh.

Cesare Prandelli will celebrate his 50th game in charge of the Italian national side when they play Nigeria this evening.
Prandelli made his debut on the Azzurri bench on August 10, 2010, against the Ivory Coast in London – the same city as tonight’s test.
In Prandelli’s 49 games to date, he’s won 22, drawn 17 and lost 10 – although only one of the latter was a competitive game.

(Reuters) - In the gloom of a hilltop cave in Nigeria where she was held captive, Hajja had a knife pressed to her throat by a man who gave her a choice - convert to Islam or die.

Two gunmen from Boko Haram had seized the Christian teenager in July as she picked corn near her village in the Gwoza hills, a remote part of northeastern Nigeria where a six-month-old government offensive is struggling to contain an insurgency by the al Qaeda-linked Islamist group.
