Suswam: ASUU Wants to Bring Down Jonathan’s Government

Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has alleged that the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was aimed at bringing down the government of President Goodluck Jonathan.
In an interview with THISDAY, Suswam, who is the chairman of the Federal Government's Needs Assessment Committee for Nigerian Universities said: "ASUU’s leadership is determined that PDP government must be brought down and the easiest way to do it is ensuring that every family is affected. And so, the Nigerian family will simply say, ‘look, to keep this government in place, our children will be out of school. So it is better that we kick this government out and bring another government.’

The Peoples Democratic Party is yet to get over the shock caused by the Court of Appeal judgment that nullified the removal of former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as national secretary, as an emergency meeting of its National Working Committee (NWC) has been slated for Monday.
The emergency meeting, which would hold at its national secretariat, will deliberate on options available to the party on the issue.

Jailed Nigerians end hunger strike

Three Nigerians, who were on a hunger strike in a jail demanding their statements be recorded by Goa human rights panel, have ended their stir.

The strike was withdrawn last night after Goa Human Rights Commission members met them at Aguada Central Jail near and recorded their statements, prison sources said.

Locals seem to be targeting Nigerians in India for no good reason. On October 30, a 37 year old man Obado Uzoma Simeon was murdered in Parra village, North Goa, India. Aside from Uzoma, several other Nigerians have been harassed, assaulted and beaten by the locals and Indian police isn't doing anything about the targeted violence. Locals claim the Nigerians being targeted are drug dealers.
