Police stop ASUU rally in Calabar

About 200 policemen yesterday blocked the main entrance of the University of Calabar, preventing members and officials of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Calabar branch from embarking on a planned street rally.

Speaking at the entrance of the university, Chairman of ASUU in the university, Dr. James Okpileya, said they wanted to move round in a peaceful manner and enlighten members of the public on the need for the university system to be saved.
