C’River Dep Gov’s father regains freedom

cross River Police Command, Monday, announced the release of Etubom Essien Cobham, father of the state’s Deputy Governor, Mr. Efiok Cobham, who was abducted by unknown gunmen on Friday.

A statement by Mr. Hogan Bassey, the Police Public Relations Officer, in Calabar said that Cobham was released on Sunday.

Suicide bombers die in failed plot at Ethiopia vs Nigeria soccer match


ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - Two Somali suicide bombers who had planned to kill soccer fans during Ethiopia's World Cup qualifying match against Nigeria on Sunday blew themselves up accidentally before carrying out the attack, the Ethiopian government said on Monday.

Nigeria to play Italy in a friendly hosted by Fulham


Nigeria will play Italy in a friendly at Fulham's Craven Cottage stadium in London on 18 November.
The match against four-time World Champions Italy will take place only two days after Nigeria's World Cup play-off second leg against Ethiopia.
Nigeria won the first leg 2-1 on Sunday and are now fancied to complete the job at home in Calabar on 16 November.
The Super Eagles hope the match against Italy will be preparation for next year's tournament in Brazil.
The match, which will kick-off at 1945 BST, will be Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi's first friendly game against European opposition since he took charge of the the side in November 2011.

Sex show owner arrested after Rihanna’s Thai visit


Thai authorities said Monday they had arrested the owner of a sex show visited by pop icon Rihanna — the latest crackdown inadvertently triggered by the singer's tweets.
The bar owner on the island of Phuket has been charged in connection with the lewd performance, local district chief Veera Kerdsirimongkol told AFP, following an operation involving undercover officials.
"It was the result of the visit by Rihanna. The authorities will be more strict towards inappropriate shows or wildlife attractions," he said.

Crude Export Suffers Setback as Shell Shuts in 300,000 Barrels

Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC) has again raised the alarm on the increasing trend of crude oil theft which has caused repeated closures of two key pipelines this year, resulting in deferment of up to 300,000 barrels of oil per day.
The company on Thursday declared force majeure on Bonny Light exports due to production deferment from leaks observed on the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) at B-Dere, Nonwa-Tai and Bodo West.
