Academy award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, 46, has been found dead in his apartment in Manhattan.
According to the MailOnline, the Hunger Games actor was found in the bathroom by police with a syringe in his arm and surrounded by drugs.
Close friend and playwright, Davre Bar Katz, found the actor and phoned the police and ambulance services at around 11.15am yesterday morning.
The star had previously battled drug addiction and it was reported that he checked himself into rehab suffering from a heroin addiction.
Philip has starred in films such as The Big Lebowski, Doubt and more recently The Hunger Games. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as writer Truman Capote in 2005’s Capote.
Celebrities have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the much-loved actor.
