Mother of teenager killed in Gosport car crash kissed daughter goodbye as she lay in the road
The mother of a teenager killed in a car crash at the weekend kissed her daughter goodbye as she lay in the road outside her home.
Rosemary Allsop was in bed when a green Honda Civic collided with Jasmine, 14, in Gosport, Hampshire, on Sunday morning after a girls’ night in. Her daughter’s best friend, Olivia Lewry, 16, also died.
The 37-year-old said: ‘It was just all a blur. I cannot remember what happened. I had gone to bed.
‘I didn’t see anything. I just thought they were playing CDs and talking about boys and make-up.
‘I went out and then a neighbour covered me in a blanket. I kissed her – it was four hours before they took her body away because I did not want to let her go.
‘I told her she was my angel and I’d loved her since the day she was born. I can remember her big blue eyes staring.’
Jasmine died at the scene while Olivia was later pronounced dead in hospital.
Police have been given extra time to question a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder following the crash.
Ms Allsop, who has another child, aged four, added: ‘I’m empty inside and lost. I keep expecting her to come through the door.
‘Jasmine was a gorgeous, lovely, bubbly character. She and Olivia were best friends.’
The teenager’s father, Kevin MacLaughlan, 58, also paid tribute to his daughter.
‘I do not know how we are going to get through this. We have run out of words of comfort to say,’ the road worker said.
‘She was beautiful. The most beautiful, bubbly girl – outgoing and affectionate, very caring.’
